Never Miss A Sermon!

A Father's Love

God is Love. There is no comparison to the Love of God. Let His Love fill every void. There is nothing that can replace His Love. There is nothing that can compete with His Love. Let the Love of God serve as the foundation of every area of your heart. Let the Love of God serve as the bedrock and framework for every area of your life.

Follow Me

Jesus called His disciples and used the phrase “follow me” over 20 times in the Bible. In the gospel of Matthew, we read that they left their occupations and their families to follow Him. Matthew 4:20 says, “At once they left their nets and followed him.” And later in verse 22, it says, “...and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.”  There is something profound in how they left. The disciples left to follow Jesus in two ways: instantly and completely.

A Good Father

Today’s Gospel passage is often called the story of “The Prodigal Son.” But the word “prodigal” just means “wastefully, or recklessly extravagant.” We don’t have to do all the things the younger son in this story did to be wasteful. But we often try anyway. The passage, however, is not about being wasteful; it’s about repentance and forgiveness, so I think we’d be better off thinking of the passage as the story of “The Good Father.”

Psychology of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a beautiful yet challenging command for all Christians. We bask in the forgiveness that Christ gave us; on the agreement that we forgive those who offend, sin, and trespass against us.

Do Not Lose Sight

The Bible is not discreet about our relationship with God. It is clear. God is our Father; we are His children. In fact, God is identified as our Father 265 times in scripture. Most of those are found in the New Testament, because through Christ we have a new identity as an adopted child of God.

Fear

People often focus too much on where they’ve been. Where they are from, the manner in which they grew up. The poor choices they’ve made, and the setbacks that they’ve experienced. But life isn’t about where you’ve been, it’s about where you’re going. The person I was isn’t the person I am, nor is it the person that I hope to become.

Palm Sunday

The Easter season is a time calling for praise and rejoicing. All nature sings and shouts and waves its praise to the Creator in the boldest, brightest colors it can find. And we who are Christians have a special reason to rejoice at Easter. Christmas celebrates the birth of the Messiah, our Savior, and fires the opening shot in the battle with evil,

Final Week

Sometimes, words alone didn’t work, and the prophets themselves became living embodiments of God’s message. Jeremiah, for instance, walked around Jerusalem with a wooden yoke on his neck (Jeremiah 27:2), calling on the people to submit to God. Jesus stands in this tradition of faithful prophets who not only spoke God’s word but also performed symbol-laden actions in order to

make a point.

Good Friday

I submit to you, this was the darkest day in history. On this day the Son of God was on trial - not for His sins, but for your sins and for mine. Hebrews 9:28, "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many..."

Easter

Today I want to talk about a napkin. But not just any napkin, Jesus’ napkin.

In Bible days, when someone died, it was the duty of a family member to close the eyes and kiss the cheek of the dead.  When Christ died, this became the duty of two men:  Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus.  They went to Pontius Pilate and begged for the body of Jesus.
